When we fail to perform a good ritual on an appointed time which is set by learned men, that means we are not deserved to do it- It is the first reason.
Though we assume something is auspicious time, we are unable to perform a ritual in that time because it is against the science of time- it is the second reason.
Whenever you want to perform a ritual/karma all you need is your own experience, your experience in worldly things and knowledge in science.
We should perform every action/karma with complete readiness and we should take into consider place, time and circumstances. It should be done by unison of speech, mind and thought.
Before we set auspicious time we have to believe in planets and in science of portend/astrology. We should not be suspicious of the auspicious time we set and we have to perform that karma/ritual/action with utmost belief. It is better to have a small setback rather than having a deadly effect when we perform in an appointed time.
Example -: My friend’s sister marriage has been set on in a particular day. The marriage did not take place due to some reasons. Their relatives and family members felt very sorry. A few days later they came to know that the bridegroom’s character is not up to the mark. Now they are very happy. Learned men are bound to set the muhurtham and we are mere performers of doing. Later good results or ill-effects of it are in the control of god.
One day a certain king had his finger cut while he was eating fruits by accidently.
His minister, who stands near him, said that’’ it was good to happen”. The king became angry by his words and he wanted to teach his minister a lesson. The next day they went to forest for hunting and the king suddenly pushed his minister into a well and said sarcastically” all is well that happened to us” and he moved away from there by leaving his minister alone. While he was returning to his kingdom a certain tribe of the forest had kidnapped and decided to sacrifice to goddess kali. Meanwhile they observed one of his finger cut so released him. The king suddenly remembered the words uttered by his minister when he had his finger cut. He went for his minister and taken him out of the well. He then asked his minister “it helped me having cut my finger but how did it help you being thrown into a well?” The minister said” if you did not push me into the well, I would be with you and I would have been sacrificed by them instead of you . “That’s why everyone should assume “all is well that happened to us”
So we should think that whatever happened to us that is happened for our best. But, we never doubtful of the muhurtham (auspicious time) and the science of portend. If we did doubt it ill effects arise out of it.
Every being (jeevatma) is eternal. With it, its grief is eternal. To remove, a little speck of its grief, our holymen, who are kind and benevolent of mankind, revealed this science of portend (muhurtha sastram).
